With a campus of 1554 mu (or 256 acres), SCUN owns the first SCUN is home to over 26,000 full-time students from 56 nationalities all over the country, who study in various majors for their PhD, master and bachelor degrees respectively or in preparatory departments. Ethnic minority students make up 60 % of the total. At present SCUEC runs 1 post-doctoral research station. There are 1 Level I doctoral degree program in Ethnology, 8 Level II doctoral degree programs, 4 under-construction doctoral degree programs sponsored by Hubei Province, 18 Level I research-oriented master degree programs, 80 Level II research-oriented master degree programs, 9 professional master degree programs in 13 fields of study, and 79 undergraduate degree programs in 10 academic disciplines. The primary resource of SCUEC is the university’s prominent faculty. Currently the university is home to 2,000 faculty and staff including 1200 faculty, among whom there are 228 professors and 538 associate professors. Over 45% of the faculty has obtained doctoral degrees, and several hundred faculty members have studied aboard. Besides, over 70 teachers have been enlisted in national and provincial talents programs. There are 9 Level I provincial and ministerial key disciplines, 2 Level I provincial and ministerial (nurturing) key disciplines, and 4 Level II provincial and ministerial key disciplines, 5 national (nurturing) featured disciplines, 23 national or provincial top-quality courses, 7 provincial brand specialties, 12 national or provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 33 provincial and ministerial key academic research institutes and laboratories. The total value of laboratory equipments amounts to about 0.24 billion RMB Yuan (38.69 million USD).
